July 24 2010 marked the SPEAKout‘s first birthday. To celebrate, we partnered with UNITY Charity and released our t-shirts in its 2010 Kickoff at Dundas Square!

UNITY is a youth led charity dedicated to showing youth how using positive forms of artistic self-expression leads to making positive life choices. In this year’s kickoff, Dundas Square was kept alive and crowded, despite the pouring rain, with over a 100 youth performers on the main stage that included musicians, beatboxers, break dancers, and spoken word artists. Even toddlers had a blast, stomping their feet in the puddles of rain and dancing along to the music!

UNITY’s beautiful crowd was impressed by SPEAKout’s t-shirts and the inspirational messages that the t-shirts carried. Everyone that passed by our table stopped by to read the poetic quotes on the t-shirts, picking up a bookmark and asking what SPEAKout is all about. Many also joined the mailing list and called some of their friends over to check out the t-shirts.

We were happy to release our first batch of t-shirts to such a wonderful crowd in such a great event! Kudos to UNITY and congrats to the first owners of SPEAKout’s t-shirts!
