Although new to poetry, Lishai has been trying to find her voice throughout her whole life. Since joining the spoken word revolution 6 months ago, she has shared poetry at events all over Ontario, represented Toronto in the 2010 Rustbelt Regional Poetry Slam in Michigan, and will be taking her voice to the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Ottawa this coming October. The competition for her is not as important as the connection made with the audience and the words, energy, emotion and intention that is a collective experience.
