At only 13 years of age, Mustafa Ahmed has written over 20 poems. He started writing at the age of 10, as a tool to express himself and reflect on society and the world. His poetry touches the subject matter of poverty, drugs, violence, immigration and more. Living in Regent Park, Canada’s first inner city housing project, Mustafa was exposed to the type of lifestyle he writes about. Mustafa has performed in various places such as Children’s Aid Society, Toronto District School Board for a group of teachers and various times for students, Martin Luther King Memorial day at the Roy Thompson Hall, Hot Docs Festival, and various other venues. He hopes to use his writing skills to touch hearts, minds and inspire younger generations to be more active in the world!
