American by birth, Guyanese at heart, but Canadian by choice. Saalih has grown to love the City of Toronto for all its multiculturalism and the many opportunities that Canada has afforded him, such as visiting the town of Grise Fiord in the Arctic. Currently, he is a fourth year student in the Faculty of Environmental Studies program specializing in Environmental Management at York University with plans to pursue a Master’s Degree within the same field. Saalih has always loved to help others and continues to do so. However, deciding to heed the advice of a wise TA and his own desire to make this world a better one for future generations, he sought out a way to achieve this goal. In his search he was drawn to SPEAKout Poetry because in the world today many of us only look at what divides us but the magic of the arts is that is it has the ability to allow us to focus on what unites us all. Therefore, SPEAKout Poetry provides a platform that not only entertains us but also inspires us all to be the change we want to see in the world.
